Zhumell 1.25" Eyepiece Projection astrophotography kit

Zhumell 1.25" Eyepiece Projection astrophotography kit Reviews

Other Picture

Zhumell 1.25" Eyepiece Projection astrophotography kit Feature

  • Zhumell 1.25" Eyepiece Projection astrophotography kit
  • Extends the range of magnification for any telescope or spotting scope when you are making pictures.
  • 3.6, 6.3, 10 and 20mm Plossl eyepiece1.25"
  • Also includes Universal Eyepiece Projection Adapter
  • Comes with aluminum-sided case
Zhumell's Small Scope Eyepiece and Filter Kit includes the three upgrades a telescope owner needs most: Good eyepieces, a good Barlow lens, and filters to bring out lunar and planetary detail. Zhumell wraps up this package with a sturdy aluminum case lined with shock-absorbing die-cut foam.

I've been very pleased with the sharp images of Saturn I get when using Zhumell lenses with my 8-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. I get sharp, ghost-free images, whether I'm using the 20mm plossl at 100x magnification or the 10mm plossl at 200x magnification. On a night when the air was still and clear I even had a delightful view at 400x by combining the 10mm plossl with the 2x Barlow.

The Zhumell accessory kit includes a good-quality Barlow lens with fully multicoated optics. The four Plossl eyepieces include high-power 3.6mm and 6.3mm lenses, and medium-power 10mm and 20mm lenses. The filter set includes a polarizing filter, a moon filter, and five color filters. The polarizing filter is handy for reducing daylight glare, the same way you would use polarizing sun glasses. The colored filters are used to enhance the faint details visible on planets such as Jupiter and Mars.

Unfortunately, there is no low-power eyepiece included, and the case has no slot to hold a low-power eyepiece if you supply your own. --Jeff Phillips

Pros:

  • Sharp plossl eyepieces
  • Very good 2x Barlow
  • Handy portable size
Cons:
  • No low-power eyepiece
  • No room for expansion
Zhumell eyepiece-and-filter kits are a great way to make the most of your telescope. Tailored for the amount of light your telescope admits, the Zhumell kits include a selection of eyepieces and filters that optimize available light. This, in turn, allows planetary features, galaxies, and binary systems to stand out in fine detail. All kits include fully-coated 1.25 Plossl eyepieces to ensure image clarity. They also include a manual that details suggested uses for each filter. The Zhumell Eyepiece-and-Filter Kit is the perfect accessory for any scope. Included in the Zhumell Eyepiece-and-Filter Kit are 3.6mm, 6.3mm, 10mm, and 20mm Plossl eyepieces; 2x Achromatic Barlow Lens, and #12 Yellow, #21 Orange, #23A Light Red, #56 Green, #82A Light Blue, Variable Polarizing and Moon filters. All of the eyepieces and filters are packed in a sturdy, aluminum-sided Zhumell Eyepiece and Filter Case.

Tele Vue Adpater to Use Dioptrx Astigmatism Correcting Lenses on Panoptic 19mm, 24mm and 20mm Nagler Type 5 Eyepieces.

Tele Vue Adpater to Use Dioptrx Astigmatism Correcting Lenses on Panoptic 19mm, 24mm and 20mm Nagler Type 5 Eyepieces. Reviews

Other Picture

This adapter will allow you to use Dioptrx Astigmatism Correcting Lenses with eyepieces having smaller eyeguards, in particular the 24mm Panoptic, 19mm Panoptic and 20mm Nagler Type 5 eyepieces Tele Vue considers eye relief acceptable when using this adapter and the Dioptrx, particularly at night when your eye pupil enlarges. However, in bino - viewer applications, with Dioptrx attached, "nose - relief" may hinder use of the 24mm and 19mm Panoptics. For normal operation of any of these eyepieces without Dioptrx, the adapter can be left permanently attached since operation with the provided larger eyeguard is quite comfortable.

Celestron NexStar 80 SLT Computerized Telescope

Celestron NexStar 80 SLT Computerized Telescope Reviews

Other Picture

Celestron NexStar 80 SLT Computerized Telescope Feature

  • Computerized hand control with 4,000 object database
  • SkyAlign allows you to align on any 3 brights celestial objects
  • Motorized Altazimuth mount
  • f11 focal ratio
  • 900mm focal length
Celestron's computerized NexStar 80 SLT offers a significant step up in performance compared to 60mm telescopes. This 80mm telescope has 78% more light gathering power than a 60mm scope, and that means more Lunar and planetary detail, and more stars visible on any given night.

Celestron's new SkyAlign technology is remarkably quick and easy to use. You won't need a GPS receiver or a star chart. In fact, if you can see the moon just choose "Solar System Align", enter the date and time, point the scope at the moon and push the "Align" key. This simple procedure was all I needed to initialize the computerized tracking system and start taking pictures with my Celestron NexImage CCD imager.

The NexStar computer allows the telescope to track quietly and accurately with surprisingly good precision. When I use the three star "SkyAlign" mode to initialize the telescope, the GoTo system consistently places deep space highlights like the Orion Nebula, the Andromeda Galaxy and the Double Cluster in Perseus near the center of the low power eyepiece. The standard equipment 25mm eyepiece (36x magnification) or an optional 32mm plossl (28x) provide nice low power views of these objects. The tracking system also makes it easy to get some delightful high power views of the moon and planets. The included high power 9mm eyepiece gives a magnification of 100x, but I find the views are quite good up to 150x when I use an optional 6mm plossl.

The NexStar 80 SLT is large enough to show good detail on the moon and planets, but it's not large enough to bring out much detail in deep space objects. Globular cluster M13, for instance, looks very comet-like with a glowing core and feathery edges; it simply takes a larger telescope to see M13's individual stars. The other drawbacks to this telescope are its short battery life and a mount that wobbles while focusing at high power. Try setting an external 12 Volt battery like Celestron's Power Tank on the accessory tray; it will power the scope and reduce vibrations at the same time. -Jeff Phillips

Pros:

  • Easy computerized pointing and tracking
  • High contrast views of the moon and planets Cons:
  • Short battery life
  • Wobbles while focusing at high power
  • Too small for deep space A step up from the 60mm model, the NexStar 80 SLT Refractor gives images that are bright and crisp. The 80 SLT offers 80% brighter images than the 60mm scope. Like the other models in the SLT Series, the 80 SLT comes with a fully computerized hand control with a database of over 4,000 celestial objects! With its pre-assembled, adjustable steel tripod, the NexStar 80 SLT can be up and ready to use in a matter of minutes. The SkyAlign alignment technology and the included StarPointer Finderscope with a red LED makes aligning a breeze. A wonderful first-time astronomical scope, the 80 SLT can also be used as a great, land-based spotting telescope with optional erect-image diagonal. SkyAlign With Celestron's revolutionary new alignment technology, setting up and using a computerized telescope is faster and easier than ever before! Point the telescope at three bright objects in the sky and the telescope tells YOU what the objects are. You do not need to know the names of the stars - you can even pick the moon or bright planets! SkyAlign is the easiest method to align a computerized telescope, it's perfect for beginners and provides the convenience and accuracy demanded by experienced users. SkyAlign is the only alignment method where you truly do not have to know the night sky - and it's only available from Celestron.

  • Baader Planetarium Hyperion 21mm 1.25" Eyepiece HYP-21

Baader Planetarium Hyperion 21mm 1.25" Eyepiece HYP-21 Reviews

    Other Picture

The Baader Planetarium Hyperion 68 degree Modular Eyepieces offer world-class performance and unique photo-visual features, at an unheard of price. No longer do amateurs need to spend more on their eyepieces than their primary instrument, in order to get true high-end performance in a wide-field eyepiece. Not just a different branded version of their highly regarded cousins, the Hyperions have been totally redesigned to deliver better transmission, contrast, and useful new features. Baader Planetarium has worked hard to give the Hyperions the world's finest optical coatings, superb mechanics, and their unique multifunctional design.

As a visual eyepiece, we have found the Hyperions deliver superb sharpness and color fidelity across their 68 degree wide, flat-field, even in fast telescopes. In our own comparisons to our personal favorites, the Pentax XL, the Hyperions matched the Pentax in every regard, and at just over 1/3 the price! From their superb on-axis and off-axis sharpness, to their pitch-black high contrast field, the Hyperions really work. Viewing through a Hyperion is notably comfortable and relaxing, due to their forgiving eye-position, 20mm of eye-relief, extra-large eyelens, and an optical design that is free of annoying 'kidney-beaning' and blackouts.

    Some highlights of the Hyperion;

Consisting of 8 elements in 5 groups (3.5mm - 21mm), the Hyperion optical design delivers outstanding sharpness and color correction over a 68 degree wide apparent field (65 degree for the 21mm). The Hyperion optical design has been chosen to deliver a exceptionally comfortable view, thanks to its 20mm of eye-relief, large eyelens, and a pupil free of the kidney-beaning and blackouts common in many wide field eyepieces.

The new 24mm uses a different optical design and delivers the same outstanding performance over it's 68 degree wide apparent field. It is totally free of blackouts a
